about

Both coming from live music performance and production, Adelaide’s Jacob Simionato and Tom Brown now make their entrance into solo electronic music production. The concept of the split EP was to use solely samples from live soul and jazz recordings in America in the 1960-70 era. Working from the same pool of sampling material, it is interesting to notice both the commonality and divergence in sound between the two producers. The restriction to make music solely from samples reflects in the organic and nostalgic mood, while the heavy processing of some parts lends itself to more electronic vogue. Recording under the alias’ Salamano (a character from Albert Camus’ The Outsider with affinity for dogs) and Bromtown (an anagram for Tom Brown), they are pursuing writing more material independently.
